National Direct Consultation

National Direct Consultation was established to increase collaboration and coordination among national service programs. Organizations proposing to operate AmeriCorps National Direct programs in more than one state or territory apply directly to AmeriCorps and are required to consult State Service Commissions. Failure to consult will likely result in a 'do not support' recommendation to AmeriCorps.

Expectations of National Directs and Responsibilities of ServeMontana:

After award, National Directs are expected to:

• Provide ServeMontana with contact information for the program and keep it up to date.
• Participate and engage members in appropriate training and other events, such as the ServeMontana Symposium each March.
• Participate in a periodic needs assessment in the development of the State Service Plan
• Include ServeMontana on the program’s mailing/email distribution lists and invite it to appropriate training and other events.

ServeMontana will:

• Consult in a timely manner with National Direct applicants, except Indian Tribes, that make contact prior to application submission.
• Consider the needs of National Direct applicants, including Indian Tribes, operating in Montana when planning annual events and technical assistance activities.
• Include National Direct programs, including Indian Tribes, in needs assessments, training plan activities, and in the development of the State Service Plan.
• Add National Direct program staff in Montana to our mailing/email distribution lists and invite them to appropriate training and other events.
