Serving in Montana

Life After Service

Employers of National Service

  • This initiative recognizes the valuable skills gained by more than 1 million Americans who have participated in AmeriCorps since 1994, and the 230,000 who have participated in the Peace Corps since 1961. Through Employers of National Service, more than 600 employers have increased access to a dedicated, highly qualified, and mission-oriented pool of potential employees, and national service alumni have additional opportunities to apply their skills in the workplace.

Education Award Information

AmeriCorps members who successfully complete a term of service earn the Segal AmeriCorps Education Award.

Education Awards may be used to pay costs of attendance at qualified post-secondary educational institutions, as well as to repay qualified student loans. The dollar amount of a full-time award is tied to the maximum amount of the Pell Grant, and varies from year to year. Currently, AmeriCorps and VISTA members may earn up to the value of two full-time education awards and have seven years from the date they earned each award to use it.

Montana Campus Compact (MTCC) Segal AmeriCorps Education Award Matching Program

In November of 2014, MTCC’s board voted to match the AmeriCorps Education award up to a certain limit.  These matches are for current, active students.

Looking for guidance on making use of this match at an institution in Montana? View this FAQ SHEET for more information.
