AmeriCorps State Formula Notice of Funding Opportunity

The Montana Governor's Office of Community Service is pleased to announce the Formula AmeriCorps State Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO), with Planning Grant Supplement.

This Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) is for eligible organizations to apply for AmeriCorps grants focused on utilizing AmeriCorps to solve Montana’s most pressing needs. Grant applicants design service activities for AmeriCorps members serving full- or part-time for one year or during the summer. Eligible organizations selected for funding implement National Service programs that engage AmeriCorps members to impact and solve community problems through an evidence-based approach.

AmeriCorps State grants provide resources and assistance to programs to recruit, train, and supervise AmeriCorps members meeting critical community needs in the areas of Education, Disaster Services, Health, Environmental Stewardship, Economic Opportunity, and service to Veterans and Military Families. AmeriCorps Planning Grants are one-year awards intended to support development of an operational grant program.

All AmeriCorps State grants are expected to align with the 2019-2021 Montana State Service Plan.

March 6, 2020 - Official posting of the Notice of Funding Opportunity

March 20 -   All applicants, due to serve@mt.gov by 5pm

New and Recompete applicants must also submit the following to serve@mt.gov

New applicants must submit the Readiness Self-Assessment (Word doc), or Readiness Self-Assessment (fillable)

New Planning Grant applicants must also submit the following

March 23-27  - Technical assistance period* Submit questions via email to serve@mt.gov.

March 27 - Last day to submit an Alternative Match Request

April 9 -  All applicants: Application Due Date 5pm Mountain Time

May 6 -  Grant Review Workgroup Meeting, in Helena, MT (a representative of the Applicant must be present for the day. Reasonable accommodations available.)

May 14 - Commission on Community Service Meeting in Helena, MT

  • vote on Grant Review Workgroup funding recommendation

May 18-22    Applicant clarification period – All recommended applicants

May 22    Clarified applications resubmitted in eGrants no later than 5pm

July/Aug 2020  Applicants notified of funding determination, dependent on CNCS.

*Technical Assistance -  Applicants are encouraged to use the technical assistance period to ask clarifying questions, to obtain a better understanding of the RFP process, the project, and to notify the State of any ambiguities, inconsistencies, or errors discovered upon examination of this RFP. All questions and written responses will be posted publicly on the ServeMontana website at http://serve.mt.gov/funding/. Participation in the technical assistance period is optional, however, it is advisable that all interested parties participate.
