Michelle Cares  Recognized as Volunteer of the Game

HELENA, MT- The Governor’s Office of Community Service will recognize Michelle Cares of Missoula as the “Volunteer of the Game” during Saturday’s Grizzly home game.

HELENA, MT- The Governor’s Office of Community Service will recognize Michelle Cares as the “Volunteer of the Game” during Saturday’s Griz home football game.

Michelle Cares is being recognized for her dedication to service in the Missoula community. A young, caring, and ambitious leader, Michelle is committed to serving her fellow Missoulians. Michelle is an AmeriCorps VISTA alumnus, serving two terms with the Montana Legal Services Association (MLSA). As an AmeriCorps VISTA with MLSA she worked at the YWCA Missoula, implementing a number of impactful community-based projects. Michelle spearheaded the Homeless Missoula Awareness Campaign as well as the YWCA Missoula’s Brown Bag Lecture Series, which continues to provide the community with a space to discover and exchange information about topics that pertain to women and those with diverse ethnic backgrounds. As an AmeriCorps VISTA leader, she continually assisted her fellow AmeriCorps members by providing resources, networking opportunities, and mentoring.

Today, Michelle gives back to the community through her employment at the Missoula Children’s Theater and by volunteering with nonprofit organizations, including the YWCA Missoula, Montana Giving Project, the River Road Neighborhood Council, and Missoula’s New Leaders Council. Michelle Cares is a committed volunteer dedicated to her community.

The Governor’s Office of Community Service is recognizing community volunteers at home games throughout the 2013 Griz football season.

The Governor’s Office of Community Service expands and promotes national service and volunteerism in Montana and engages citizens in service and emergency preparedness.
