The Governor’s Office of Community Service and YSA are proud to support 17 Global Youth Service Projects across Montana. Global Youth Service Day (GYSD) is the world’s largest service event and the only one dedicated to celebrating the contributions of young people. Montana GYSD Events:

Anaconda: The Anaconda Little League team is having their 3rd Annual Marty May baseball field cleanup day on Saturday, 4/27. Players and parents will work on repairing and replacing sections of the surrounding fence. Contact Stephanie Galle at 406-691-0861 to learn more.

Bozeman: Participants of the HRDC Youth Development’s mentoring program, Segue, will be restoring the greenhouse at the Bridger Alternative School on Friday, 2/26 and Sunday, 4/28. Youth will clean and organize the greenhouse and start native plants and vegetables to be planted around the school. Contact Keely Holmes at 406-585-4874 to get involved.

Billings: Montana Conservation Corps AmeriCorps members are supporting the annual “Youth in Action” GYSD event with two projects at Lake Elmo State Park and Two Moon Park on Saturday, 4/27. Browning: Alternative education students will work with the Families in Transition program to assemble backpacks for homeless students on Friday, 4/26. Contact Nikki Hannon at 406-338-4380 to learn more.

Butte: TRIO/Upward Bound students of Butte High School will join East Middle School students in planting flowers and shrubs in “reclaimed” park areas around Butte on Saturday, 4/27. This is in partnership with Montana Tech and the Reclamation Department of Butte Silver Bow. Contact Theresa Rader at 406-491-1907 to learn more.

Fort Peck: Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, and 4-H members will be re-plumbing the restrooms at the Allies of Scouting Camp on Sunday, 4/28. Hardware store owner, Drew Markle, will be teaching the youth plumbing skills on Saturday, 4/27. Contact Roubie Younkin at 406-228-6241 to get involved.

Glasgow: The Tampicio Boys 4-H Club members are redecorating a room at the Valley View Nursing home on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, April 26-28, to show their appreciation for their elders. Contact Roubie Younkin at 406-228-6241 to learn more.

Havre: Youth of the Boys & Girls Club of the Hi-Line are cleaning up around the club and planting flowerbeds on Friday, 4/26. Contact Mary Owens at 406-265-6206 to learn more.

Havre: Key Clubs students of Havre High School along with Opportunity Link and North Central Montana Transit, will be creating a community garden at the Transit Bus Barn on Saturday, 4/27. Part of the produce from this garden will be donated to the Community Food Bank. Contact Samantha Rybicki at 406-265-3699 to get involved.

Helena: Students for the Project for Alternative Learning and Helena Middle School’s Student Leadership Group will be beautifying the outdoor common area at the God’s Love Shelter on Friday, 4/26. Helena: Students of the YMCA’s “You Got Served” afterschool program will cleaning kennels and making dog toys at the Lewis and Clark Humane Society on Friday, 4/26. Contact Ariana McElarth to learn more.

Helena: The All Nations Youth Council of the Helena Indian Alliance will be developing the community garden at the Helena Indian Alliance on Friday and Saturday, 4/26 and 4/27. Contact Jeremy Red Eagle at 406-422-9244 to get involved.

Helena: Fifth grade SACC students will be creating placemats focused on healthy eating with their younger peers enrolled in the after-school program at Four Georgians Elementary School on Friday, 4/26. Contact Stephanie Bleyendall at 406-324-2133 to learn more.

Kalispell: Youth of the Center for Restorative Youth Justice program will be assisting with the community garden expansion at Flathead Valley Community College on Saturday, 4/27. The day’s activities will include educational workshops, leadership games, and the creation of a youth mural. Contact Keara O’Neill at 406-257-7400 to get involved.

Kalispell: Montana Academy Students, Montana Conservation Corps members, and FoodCorps members will be helping with the community garden day at Flathead Valley Community College on Saturday, 4/27. Contact Katie Wheeler at 412-952-6719 to learn more.

Lewistown: Students of Lewistown schools are participating in an Earth Day poster contest sponsored by ROWL (Recycle Our Waste Lewistown) on Friday, 4/26. Winners from each grade level will receive a ROWL t-shirt. Contact Anne Knerr at 406-538-8435 to get involved.

Missoula: Youth residents of Mountain Home Montana will be doing a grounds cleanup and building a bike shelter at the home on Saturday, 4/27. Contact Kira Huck at 406-541-4663 to learn more.
