AmeriCorps Members Gather for Service Blitz

AmeriCorps members from across Montana will be joining together in Helena today, Wednesday, February 27 for service projects throughout the community. More than 100 AmeriCorps members will be participating in one of fifteen projects that benefit the community. This massive service project gathering kicks off the fourth annual ServeMontana Symposium, a two-day conference focused on providing training and resources for national service programs, nonprofits, and volunteer organizations.

When: TODAY, February 27, 2013 from 2:00-5:00pm

Where: 15 locations around town, see  project location details, kick-off at the Myrna Loy Center at 2pm

AmeriCorps is a national service program that engages more than 1,200 dedicated citizens in intensive service each year at more than 130 locations including nonprofits, schools, public agencies, and community and faith-based groups across Montana. AmeriCorps is a program of the Corporation for National and Community Service, a federal agency that engages more than five million Americans in service through its AmeriCorps, Senior Corps, Social Innovation Fund, and other programs.

The Governor’s Office of Community Service expands and promotes national service and volunteerism in Montana and engages citizens in service and emergency preparedness.
